If it wasn't about cosplay I wouldn't be in cosplay in the first place. I'd be standing there in normal clothes don't you think? If you're referring to it being revealing, I wouldn't put countless hours into my cosplays just to show off some skin. I genuinely love the characters I cosplay. Just because I wanna do a silly picture with two girls who are my friends makes it seem like its not about the cosplay anymore? Huh. My point here is to keep an open mind. Just because something is sexy or revealing shouldn't take away from the fact we love to cosplay and thats our main purpose. If something looks cute or cool would you say 'is this really about cosplay anymore'? (No this is not meant as an attack I know the text probably sounds bitchy)
My mind being open isn't the problem. I get that you love to cosplay, or else you wouldn't be doing it. And I for one am a fan of it, and now a fan of yours.
But my point is that woman are always complaining that men are ogling them and staring at their boobs and asses, and they don't want to be treated that way especially when they cosplay; or that they don't like that women are always depicted as sex objects and drawn with skimpy clothing. And then you come along with this picture where you're all wearing next to nothing (you all have more clothes off then you have on), you're showing cleavage, and the others are showing hella lotta ass, and you're even patting their asses like "look ya'll, asses!" The one on your left even has her shorts hiked up to show even MORE ass. This picture screams look us sexy girls being sexy. You don't see a bit of mixed message there? Is this pic about the cosplay or about the asses?
Again, while I am a fan of this pic, and by extension of you, I just think the message is mixed.
I'm also not saying there shouldn't be a line of 'respect' so to say but some people on the internet don't care about what they say and I've been dealing with this for awhile so I know what to expect. We also do not stand for all women or cosplayers. So please keep that in mind. Just because someone shows off a lot of ass or cleavage does not mean they are looking for attention either and it can be really annoying when you get attacked over dressing like one of your favorite characters just cause you're showing off a bit of skin. Either way we're all gonna continue to enjoy what we do and people can think what they want in the end.
We know very well how people will view us and react. It all comes along with the cosplaying revealing things. I know I myself don't do this and then say "men who are oogling over me are such pigs ew" ....because that'd be dumb. I enjoy the way some sexy characters look (personality plays the best part to me for choosing characters to cosplay though), I'm not gonna complain if a male likes the way it looks too. This picture in particular obviously was like "oh look ass" and yes, I have boobs and when my arms are crossed there is....cleavage. I'm not blind to what kind of attention it gets, and I don't really care anyways. If people wanna hate it thats their problem. If they like it then awesome, even better. I'm not trying to send any kind of mixed message. Just having some silly "sexy looking" fun in a picture. Cause we all know how Yoko cosplayers(and other revealing cosplays) get looked at. Its no secret. I'm just out to have fun, and not really care about what people think, or how much attention I get. Being noticed is always nice since we worked hard on the cosplays though(in a good way of course) If you have some kinda beef with other cosplayers that do it then you should mayyybe go elsewhere to rant cause I already see what you're saying. I'd understand you saying all this if I ever complained about getting that kind of attention, but I haven't as far as I remember. Can't this just have cosplay and booty together and be happy? Didn't know we really had to choose. Glad you enjoy the picture in whatever way you enjoy it though.
I have to say for the girl on the right, that is by far the most daring interpretation of Yoko Littners shorts that I have seen. It might not be completely accurate but it certainly has the right affect!
